Troop 66 - A Proud History

The original Davis Boy Scout Troop No. 1 was sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in 1922 and was later designated as Troop 66 sponsored by the Davis Rotary Club.  The Davis Troop was part of the Kit Carson Council and was called the Daniel Boones.  Although the Kit Carson Council was short lived, the Troop eventually became part of the Golden Empire Council.

Davis Boy Scout Cabin

In 1924, the Davis community began looking for a place to house the growing range of scouting activities.  The Davis Rotary Club played a major role in fund raising and construction of the cabin beginning in 1926. The “logs” of the cabin are electrical poles donated by PG&E. Together with Boy Scout Troop 66, Troop 139, members of the Rotary Club and other volunteers from the community, the cabin was completed and dedicated in December 1927.  Although the Scouts no longer meet in the cabin, it still stands as a historical landmark at the corner of 1st and F Streets.
